Now in its fourth year, SHY FEST
has only gone from strength-to-strength. With a venue change to allow more scope for expansion and a later curfew, we listened to YOU, the performers and the audience members, in how we shaped and developed - not just as an event - but as a project that delivers to the creative grassroots community of Greater Manchester.
Very much co-designed from audience and participant feedback, SHY FEST III showcased a taste of what's to come in the future...

THIS YEAR we are very exctited to announce that we have been invited to curate a stage at the legendary STRUMMERCAMP, now in its 20th year!
This is a wonderful opportunity to take our developing artists to a whole new audience
Please keep checking our socials and this website, and the Strummercamp website for announcements on the lineup!

So what's happening next for ShyFest and ShyTalk Legacy?
Very much continuing the all-important, and ever-relevent ethos of the man who inspired these events, a live and let live community atmosphere, rooted in a value system which supports diversity, neurodiversity, creative experimentation, and the nurturing and formation of creative partnerships in a true grassroots environment. With more than three years operating this project as a 'labour of love', I have now reached the point where I am unable to continue this amount of work in an unpaid capacity. The fate and future of the project now lies in the hands of organisations such as the Arts Council England believing in its importance and proven sustainability, in order to enable myself and all involved, to grow and evolve it further.

This is where MASLOW STUDIOS comes in:
With funding in place, the next phase of the project will involve a focus on artist development, with subsequent platforming at our live events. Mentoring classes, with experienced guest facilitators, will give opportunity for creative coaching alongside the shared industry experitise of both the guest speaker and myself. Drawing on my skills and expertise in teaching, training, mental health work and neuro linguistic programming (NLP), the sessions take influence from Abraham Maslow's 'Hierarchy of Needs' (1943) model of self-actualisation. With a bank of creative inudstry experts to draw from, and 1-2-1 online mentoring between sessions, I will be offering places to neurodiverse individuals on low income as priority.

TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR ARTISTS:

Here's Naomi Kalu performing a solo set at SHY FEST II.
